Analysis of water-based ink color characteristics

The water-based ink is easy to wash, and the price is cheap. However, temperature, humidity, and pressure affect the performance of the ink. If the ink is too thick, the drawing will not dry, which will often cause the upset. Let us  provide analysis and countermeasures

The characteristics of water-based inks are related to temperature and humidity

1. Temperature influence: When the winter is very cold, the ink becomes very viscous and it is not easy to roll the ink evenly.
Solution: You can put the paint on a flat-bottomed iron plate and heat it slightly or add a little bit of  reconcile water to mix with the ink.
When the ink is very fluid in summer, it is easy to bleed if the pressure is too high during stamping.
Solution: You can reduce the pressure a little bit.


2. Humidity influence: When the humidity is too high, such as rainy days, especially during the rainy season, it is easy to absorb moisture. Usually the ink becomes watery, and it is not easy for the ink roller to slip.

Solution: Use a hair dryer to dry the surface moisture.

Another common problem is that the two works are stuck together. Don't tear them apart at this time, they will break.

Solution: You can use a sprayer to spray water on the back of the work, but don't get too wet. Pull it off slowly after about 10 minutes. You can also use a utility knife to help. If it’s too tight, you can spray water again.

3. It is recommended to use a thinner ink for multi-color printing on one plate. (Even if the ink is thin on the color part, it looks a little unclear. When the dark or black color is inserted, the color part will naturally appear). In fact, when the water-based ink is normal, the ductility is very good, and the ink is thin and easy to dry. It is possible to print 3 colors in one lesson (on the contrary, if you print one color and wait for 15 minutes, it will not dry, and the second color cannot be printed. It must be too thick).

4. Hansen water-based ink characteristics: more viscous, more detailed for relief printing, easier to dry, convenient for multi-color overprinting, not easy to jam grooves. Can print green EZ plate and acrylic plate intaglio. When the ink is too thick, the cylinder can be used to adjust the ink with the other hand to help pressurize (below), try not to use oik or reconcile to mix with waterwater-based ink to make ink thinner.


     

5. After the water-based ink is kneaded, can it be used for one day? It depends on the weather, the weather is high and the humidity is easy to separate oil and water, and the temperature is hot-the ink is easy to dry.

6. The appliance is not easy to wash when the ink dries. You can add some  reconcile water to dilute and wash it. Or soak it with any detergent before washing.
